Walking through the bustling and colorful streets of Cape Town I came upon a hidden gem, the Honest Chocolate Cafe. It is the perfect place to sit down for a warm cup of coffee on a cold winters day pared with a mouth-watering treat.
The cafe has a wide selection of sweet treats which would make any chocolate lover feel like they are in heaven.
The banana bread bunny chow is one of the popular items on the menu. You can either order traditional or gluten free banana bread which is filled with nuts and melted chocolate and served with traditional ice cream or vegan coconut ice cream.
As you walk into the cafe the aroma of freshly baked goods and chocolate hits you in the face. The lovely and energetic staff welcome you with a warm smile.If you walk right to the end there is a enclosed courtyard which is a magical place its almost as if you stepped through a magical door and are now in Tuscany, Paris. The floor is a black and white checkerboard of tiles that showed the wear of many shoes that have walked over the floor. In the evenings a secret gin bar opens in the courtyard which is perfect for an evening drink with friends after a busy day at work in the bustling city.
There is a large selection of artisan chocolates with no sugar or dairy added, so its completely guilt free. I highly recommend the Rose Geranium Truffle which was my favorite and is a perfect gift to buy a friend or even to treat yourself.
The best part of the cafe is that their menu has substitutes available for most dietary requirements which makes it the perfect cafe especial for your fussy vegan friends.The Cafe has free WiFi which makes it the perfect coffee stop if you a a tourist travelling the city.
The chocolate shot is highly recommended, the melted dark chocolate with a touch of milk leaves you with a irresistible taste of heaven sweeter than honey, temptation you to eat more and more.
